SOPA Death of the Internet

If you do not understand, what SOPA and PIPA are, there are many web sites to help you understand the magnitude of this latest government plan. I would rather listen to a video on Youtube rather then read some article.

SOPA stands for Stop Online Piracy Act while PIPA stands for Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act of 2011. Some are correctly saying this is basically censorship of the Internet, while many call it a death sentence to the Internet.

Michael Mozart explains how many offending companies now are big supporters of SOPA and PIPA. He is quite lively and entertaining. You should watch this video. He shows lots of evidence that many huge companies encouraged us to download software like Limewire and other file sharing programs for the last decade. Now those companies are pushing the our leaders into supporting these laws.

It is the goal of Mr. Mozart to have his video shared by everyone. I am sharing it here, because I believe what he is saying. I know what censoring the Internet will do for all of us. We need to stop SOPA.

In this next video, a man sings about The Day LOLCAats Died’, it is sung to the tune of the Don Mclean hit “American Pie. The death of the Internet as he sings about will come to be if these laws are passed.

If this SOPA law is passed, you will see websites such as YouTube and Twitter fall by the wayside. They are two of the biggest sites, but trust me you will see many more websites blink out of existence. We as a people cannot allow that to happen so it’s important for all of us to speak up and tell our legislators to stop this ridiculous plan.

The Internet does not need censorship, no more than we do. The Internet holds a wealth of information that is educational and entertaining, and to block those sites is a horrid injustice to humanity.
