If you are wondering how to self publish a book, it is easier than it sounds. You simply need to be pointed in the right direction. Growing up I wanted to be an author, it was a dream that lasted a long time. After sending out queries to many publishers, I got the rejections everyone else has gotten when they go that route.
Then I became involved with a group of friends and we began publishing our stories together in a book. Angel, a friend of mine came up with this brilliant idea. She takes care of the formatting of our books. It felt wonderful the first time I seen my name on a cover of an actual book. That was September 17, 2010 so in reality it was not long ago, and as of October 2011 our little group has put out six of them.
In October of 2011, I became brave enough to put of my first solo print book. It sold pretty well, but my e-books are selling better. So now let me tell you how I self published my books which you can find on Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Smashwords and numerous places around the web.
Before you do it you need to learn how to self publish a book. Its easy.
First, you need a good story, and after you have edited it, re-edit it. Send it to a friend and have them look it over to make sure it makes sense.
Decide how big you want your book to be. If you want it to be, 6 by 9 set up your word processor for that size. Now go ahead and make sure the text is Arial 12 and the headings are Arial 14. Add in chapter breaks by adding in page breaks as it looks nicer.
Go ahead and make a cover. I have made some of mine in Paint Shop Pro, and some online on a free book cover site. Just remember your cover needs to be a jpg for most places.
Now you need to choose a website to help you make your creation a reality. After researching many places online How to self publish a book, I choose Creatspace.com. This site does keep a portion of the book, but it works the best in my opinion. It is easy to get the book-uploaded. You can have your print book list on Amazon and it will be for sale on Creatspace.com as well. For an extra fee, you can also have it be made available to other online booksellers, in libraries and other places. For my four print books, I have only paid the extra fee once. I did not feel it necessary for the others.
For those wondering how to self publish a book this is how I did it. Some people say it is a cop out, I do not think so. I took my dream and made it a reality when I learned how to self publish a book.
