Book Description:

Jordan Harrison no longer trusts relationships, so when her widowed mother is swept away by a handsome, wealthy architect, Jordan fears the hasty engagement will end in disaster. After all, how well can her mother know the guy after only a few months? Intent on saving her mother from certain heartbreak, Jordan races to Breckenridge Manor to delay the wedding, but runs into more than she’s bargained for—a handsome, understanding man intent on helping her heal past wounds and open her mind to new possibilities.

Known as the man with nerves of steel, Tanner Breckenridge lives up to his reputation, but it doesn’t take long for him to discover he has a soft spot for Jordan Harrison, the daughter of his father’s future bride. Loyal to his father, but captivated by Jordan, Tanner puts his heart on the line and risks everything for a chance at love.

Review:

Jordan Harrison’s mom is engaged to Tanner Breckenridge’s dad, but Jordan isn’t sure the marriage is in her mother’s best interest. As she searches for a way to delay the wedding or call it off completely, she begins to see, with Tanner’s help, that her fears are blinding her to her mother’s happiness. Not only is she afraid to lose her mom, she’s afraid her mom will get hurt—like Jordan herself was when her own fiancé left her.

Tanner is in favor of the wedding. He sees how happy Jordan’s mom makes his dad, and he can sympathize with his dad being lonely. After all, Tanner is ready to settle down as well; he just hasn’t found the right woman. Due to a lack of confidence in his ability to pick the right woman to be his wife, he signs up with a Christian matchmaking service. Then he meets Jordan, and he begins to rethink his plan.

Throughout the story, we’re shown the importance of family and trusting God in all things, even the situations that scare us the most. We’re also shown the regrets that can come from getting your priorities mixed up. Wendy Davy has written an amazing story of love between two people who must overcome regrets and fears to reach the future God has planned for them. As Jordan and Tanner grow closer together, Jordan slowly learns to overcome her fears by trusting in God, the One who will always be there for her no matter what. Tanner must overcome his belief that everything in life can be planned out as smoothly as the blueprints he creates in his occupation as an architect.

Reluctant Bridesmaid is a wonderful Christian romance, full of vivid descriptions, lively characters that are easy to identify with, and emotional situations that will leave you hoping everything will work out. The faith of the characters is portrayed realistically, as are their struggles as they try to find their way in life. The romance is sweet and pure, yet there’s plenty of romantic tension that tugs at the reader’s heartstrings. I highly recommend this uplifting story of faith and love to anyone who enjoys inspirational romance.
